The son of the former High Chieftain Grandthanc II Grondthanc's story is one that has sent him all over the face of Elberen. Being a prince he spent most of his childhood and into his teenage years (20-40 for Trall) being the next Trall in line for the supreme crown of the Trall empire, this all changed when he was 52 years old (still very young for a trall he had only just entered adulthood). He was wandering down one of the massive tunnels known as the Dharfang Highway when a he spotted a human being cowering behind one of the large pillars that lined the tunnel. He had not seen a Human before...only heard tales of their horrid deeds and what cowardly monsters they where, Grondthanc still felt pity for the human and tried to aid him on finding a way out of the tunnels. The human soon explained that he had been lost in the caverns for weeks and only just found the highway but was now totally lost. Grondthanc with as much stealth as he had led the human up to the grand gate...only to be stopped by guards and hauled back to Dharfang being called a "traitor" and "thin-skin ally". He was soon tried, and sentanced to banishment from Dharfang. His own father cast him out.
Thirteen years later Grondthanc had traded one life for another, he had set up a ramshackle house on the outer edge of the eldenwood and his life consisted of chopping down a remarkable amount of trees for no reason it seemed, drinking cheap whiskey, and smoking cigars. He could often be found drinking in Shalin's tavern, and when I mean drink I mean DRINK. Grondthanc would often consume at least half a keg of ale on a nightly average and often had others pay for it simply because they wanted to see if he could truly drink it all. In these times he would often throw bandits and brigands about on the streets if ever they where foolish enough to attack him, Grondthanc's actions where so famed in Aranorn that soon a song or two was wrote for him, one of these was Grondthanc the Mighty,
"Grondthanc the mighty!
Grondthanc the tall!
Ol' Grond will throw others about like a ball,
Over your homes
And to the hills,
Grond will break bones that will never heal!"
The songs where made by drunken men in a bar so their quality left something lacking.
On a warm summers day 13 years after Grondthanc was banished he walked into Shallin's Garden as he often did but met two Elde and ended up tearing apart the inn in combat with another Trall by the end of the night with the help of the elden shaman of little renown know as Andel, the other Elden who avoided the battle was named Tain. This is the event that started everything, after one or two adventures with the elden Grondthanc found himself pulled back to Dharfang by request of his ill father Grandthanc II. To cut the chase of the Grond's whole story, Grandthanc kicked the bucket and Grondthanc is now the high chieftain Dharfang, the largest Trall tribe in Elberen.
