History of the Trall part II
The Trall under the leadership of the line of Zirzák expanded their empire to great size while the world above was assumed to be a post-cataclysmic wasteland. The Trall saw no reason to ever tread in lands where the sun shined (that is if the sun still shined above ground). And so the Trall stayed under the mountains. Yet not all Trall where under the mountains...
For what ever reason, life did survive above ground after the cataclysm, but it was not nearly how it used to be.
Any Elden who survived the cataclysm were forced to form small nomadic groups of scavengers whom would take whatever they could find to survive.
No one had seen a sign of the Sprites, they were thought to be extinct.
Any Trall who survived the cataclysm and was above ground adapted quite well to the harsh conditions and considering their situation they were not to bad off...until they showed up.
They were Man, and Man survives.
Man for some strange reason had risen out of the ashes of the old world and quickly built loose towns filled with scavengers, slavers, and warriors. They expanded faster than any race before and soon their cities dotted the wastes.
The Trall had never seen man, and their new-found violent nature mixed with man's tenacity for control was a horrible mix and led to many conflicts. Man took young Trall as slaves for they where the only one's they could physically keep in line, and the Trall empire under the mountains knew not of their overlander kin's plight. Man was able to keep their boot barely down on the overland Trall and this went on for many years...until the Trall empire came out of the ground to see the new face of Elberen.
Man was terrified. They did not know that the Trall had a grand empire and they tried to get rid of their overland Trall slaves as soon as possible but the damage had been done...the Trall where angry.
The Trall empire under the leadership of High Chieftain Gatora'tor marched across the wastes and burned every single city they saw to the ground and slaughtered every human they saw until man was no more than a crackling ember of a race.
With the slaves freed and the humans in check the Trall returned to the underground and would not emerge for 2,000 years.
In these 2,000 years the world above slowly became green again, and the smog and horrid black clouds disappeared letting the sun shine brightly now down on Elberen.
Man had discovered magic, and built Empires.
The Elden still roamed the lands looking to be part of nature and not to control it.
The Sprites revealed themselves at last for they had retreated to the islands in the great sea.
And the Trall emerged again...and the humans disliked this. They declared war as soon as the first Trall was seen above ground.
Under the leadership of Grandthanc II the Trall summoned a great host (yet did not empty the mountains, for they where just thin-skins after all) and marched on the faction of humans who declared war on them known as Aranorn.
Aranorn out of all the human nations had the greatest knowledge of the arcane and it showed in the Trall siege of Aranorn. The battle over the city lasted for weeks and the battling was brutal yet the power of magic was too much for the Trall and Grandthanc II agreed to sign a treaty to save what Trall warriors he had left and to have temporary peace with Aranorn.
The Trall knew they had to advance, and they dared not touch magic. And so they looked to industry. They built great factories, furnaces, gears, siege works, and they discovered the power of coal. In more recent days of the Empire the Trall have acquired cannons from the Sprites and they plan to use/advance them greatly.
